I remember going over to my Grandparent's house almost every Sunday. We would play and Granny would always have candy in the cupboard. We gobbled it up because we didn't get many sweets at home. Our parents would come back over for dinner and then we would return home.
While at our grandparents we would play, ride on the riding lawn mower with Grandaddy, watch movies on TV (black and white), craft, or just hang out. There was no air conditioning and I remember it being SOOOO HOT!!! They would turn on this big window fan in the back room and crack the front door to try to draw some air through the house. Well, I guess you know I am no spring chicken by now, but those were the days!

Back To School
As most of the country is getting ready to go back to school, we are entering our second week here in Georgia. All of the anticipation of new classes, new teachers, new friends has calmed down. As my younger son said, now we have to start curriculum. So it's signing agendas and making sure homework is done before running to football practice. Somewhere in there dinner or a snack to hold him over until dinner.
Now, as the days have go by I find myself looking at the clock, waiting for the door to open and hear his cherry voice and get a big hug and kiss. Since Chris started middle school this year, it seems like he is gone all day (well he is)! - from 8am until 4pm. The bus picks up and drops the boys at the end of the driveway since we live "out" and not in a neighborhood. A nice convenience and as Erma Bombeck once said, the school bus was her best friend- it showed up like clockwork to take them and then dropped them back off at the end of the day.

Graduation Time

This has been a busy month for me...I had a daughter graduate from the University Of Georgia (in 4 yrs and kept the Hope Scholarship all 4 years!!) We are so proud of her and now she is going to get her masters.
After a trip to the Carribean, she will work in Athens and go to school in the fall. Here are a few pics from her party we gave to celebrate her accomplishment...she's on the right in the pics.

Diamonds and Daisies
Some people think of Diamonds and Daisies as the birthstone and flower for April. I have another take on it...Baseball!!!! (Baseball Diamond and Daisies in the outfield). I probably wouldn't be so enthuastic about it if my son, Christopher, was not playing baseball. He LOVES it. His team is the Creekview Grizzlies 5the grade travel team, a feeder for the high school team. He has lots of fun and I enjoy watching him and the others play. I am the Concession Mom this season, so lots of extra activity there. Here are a few pictures of the boys...

Tornado Weekend
This past weekend was a whopper! Strong storms rolled through the Atlanta area with tornados, hail, strong winds, destruction and death. It's so sad to think of the people that lost their life during the storms. How horrifying to be flung through the air or have your house collapse on you. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who suffered from the tornados.
My family and I were lucky, we spent the better part of Saturday in the basement. At one point you could hear the "train" roaring not too far away from us, but we were not hit directly. And the hail, it looked like someone had dumped ice chests out all over the place!
Mother Nature is full of surprises and you have to be in awe of the power of storms like these. Reminds us we are not in charge and to be grateful and thankful for all God has given us.
